Hindenburg

A huge airship that was made in the 1930s which famously suffered a huge explosion on May 6 1937, effectively putting an end to airship style designs and ushering in modern day airplanes. The airship was partially fueled and kept afloat by hydrogen, and extremely flammable substance. Part of the airship caught fire for reasons unknown, likely a static electricity buildup, which resulted in the airship becoming a huge fireball. Of the 97 people on board, 35 died, along with one further ground worker.
